Great question! Boil Water Advisories are enacted when there is a breech in the safety of the municipal water supply. Generally a breech involves the presence of elevated levels of organic contaminants, such as ecoli, etc. Boiling water WILL kill these organic contaminants. Problem is, municipal water supplies are treated with chemicals - the least of which is chlorine. In addition, try as they might to remove ALL chemicals & pollutants, water treatment plants simply can't do it. The types & amounts are just too overwhelming. They must adhere to government standards which, unfortunately DO allow contaminants to remain in the water. SO, when you boil water you are removing organic contaminants BUT you are also CONCENTRATING chemicals.

When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Thanks!
