FRACKING: Two men, two calculations, and two very different consequences.

A professor in Pennsylvania makes a calculation, to discover that his state is sitting atop a massive reserve of natural gas—enough to revolutionize how America gets its energy. But another professor in Pennsylvania does a different calculation and reaches a troubling conclusion: that getting natural gas out of the ground poses a risk to public health. The water that was filtered by our system was purposely contaminated by numerous chemical, organic and inorganic agents.

For the purpose of this test, the water used was infected and primed with extremely high levels of contaminants – so high, they’re actually not found in real world scenarios. PUR2o was able to address ALL of the imperfections of that water.

The contaminated water was also spiked with minerals. The PUR2o system removed them. Tests showed the water’s mineral content at a 61% reduction. This higher number is due to the PUR2o system adding those essential minerals back to the water.

Because the water passed; it meets all NSF standards making all the components in our filtering and purifying NSF approved including filters, membranes, connections, tubing and tanks.

PUR2o sent that water sample through our PUR2o/RO Filtration System – the contaminated water went through several stages of filtration as follows:

1 – a Sediment Filter

2 – a Granulated Carbon Filter (GAC)

3 – a Reverse Osmosis Membrane

4 – a second GAC (5 micron) filter

5 – the PH Boost cartridge to restore and elevate natural minerals which should be the only thing present in water.

We sent the sample to an INDEPENDENT, NJ (state) Certified, LABORATORY. In every instance, PUR2o surpassed the test requirements for effective and complete filtration. 15 out of 19 toxins tested were reduced by at least 91.5% or better.

East Orange Water Commission officials say e-coli were detected in the water supply and, until further notice, residents should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before drinking, preparing or washing food, making ice cubes or brushing their teeth.

The water commission said, in a statement, that the cause of the contamination was under investigation but may be attributed to excessive rainfall over the last two months.

From her office in Connecticut, Boyd consults people of all ages about incorporating a variety of healthy solutions to achieve a state of wellness. She relies on her training in Western medicine but also provides the wisdom of ancient practices.  She often guides her clients through the Native American and Chinese philosophies – if you are healthy you can not be ill – and helps them get to a place where living, itself, engenders health.

Rooted in the belief that the body operates within a self-sustaining system, Boyd stresses that her clients feed themselves wisely, appropriately and always be mindful of the notion that eating and drinking is opening up the body “temple” – making the sacred space of the inner being vulnerable to what’s being put in.

“We tend to view eating and drinking as a right, instead of a responsibility. When we veer away from the consciousness of what where doing, it becomes easier to make errors in judgement about what we’re taking into ourselves. So much of what is in many diets today is unworthy of the body.”

Nutrition, therefore is a very critical part of wellness and for Boyd a very large part of nutrition is hydration.

“You can fast on food for 40 days, but three days without water – you would die. Look at how developing countries around the world, their water will kill you. Water is the first and most important thing for us as humans, and yet, we take it for granted. One of the things we have allowed to deteriorate as a society is our drinking water. This is not good, because water is a foodstuff. It acts as a solvent. It sustains life. But there is a way to strip down the water and build it up again, through the PUR2o system.”

The country’s drinking water, without filtration, is not truly potable. It no longer meets the definition of what is acceptable for the human body. Boyd estimates there are 315 contaminants in water, pharmaceuticals, toxins, pesticides from run off just to name a few. She advocates for drinking water, after employing a thorough filtration process.

“To many, I realize the idea of installing a filter may seem like an expensive proposition. Here we are as a society going out and getting nails done and hair dyed but on the other side of the pocketbook, we say we can’t afford a filtration system. I urge anyone to actually do the calculations, realize that you are worth every penny to get your drinking water to the best it can be.”

Boyd’s advice? Drink copious amounts of the cleanest, most energetically pure water you can get your hands on. Clean it through reverse osmosis (RO) or steam distillation first, but then make sure you build it back up, add back the life-giving ions that make it alkaline.

A client of Boyd’s with pronounced osteoporosis who adopted healing practices in the last year or two, but wasn’t seeing results as quickly is planning to install a PUR2o system at her recommendation. She encouraged her client to make the change as soon as possible, since it would replace the RO water she and her family are currently drinking.

PUR2o recently worked with the folks at Vapur to create a system that would filter rain water for people living in Haiti – still feeling the effects of the earthquake that devastated so many lives. Prior to installation of the system, the people were only filtering out particles into plastic 5 gallon barrels.

Now – chlorine is added to the collection bin to kill parasites, microorganisms and any type of contaminant. From there the water flows through a sediment filter to remove debris and a carbon filter to remove the chlorine that was added to disinfect the water at the point of collection.

Vapur contacted PUR2o for help with the filtration system that would purify rainwater captured in a system of barrels and pipes, making it safe to drink. The people who live there are able to test the water regularly to make sure the system is operating properly.

But above all, they now have safe, clean water to drink.

“Fracking” is the nickname given to a process used to extract natural gas from shale deposits – called hydraulic fracturing. Precious volumes of ground water is mixed with chemical additives and injected under high pressure into the ground to help shatter the thick rock.

Supposedly the moratorium will give the state and federal agencies involved time to study the process fully to determine the environmental effects.

“While I share many of the concerns expressed by those who support this legislation, I believe that a one-year moratorium on fracking in New Jersey while the issue is studied … is the most prudent, responsible and balanced course of action,” Christie said in a statement.

The NJ state Legislature approved the ban in June.

Environmental groups are pushing for legislators to override the veto.

“This is a dismal day for New Jersey,” Maya van Rossum, of the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, said, according to a news release.

“A one-year moratorium is an insult to the people of New Jersey. It does nothing to protect them or New Jersey’s drinking water from the threat of fracking,” Jeff Tittel, of the New Jersey Sierra Club, says in a news release.
