FAQs
Full House Systems
What type of maintenance is required on the PUR2o Whole House system?
Depending on which Whole House System installed, the maintenance will vary. For example, a Whole House Mixed Bed system requires only adding salt to the brine tank as needed. The filtration media is changed once every 4 – 5 years. The Whole House Activated Carbon backwash filter requires a media change every 3-4 years. The Big Blues require yearly filter replacement or more often depending on incoming water quality and consumption.
What is TDS and why do I need a TDS Meter?
TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids. TDS are the total amount of total of mobile charged ions, including minerals, salts, or metals dissolved in a given volume of water. TDS, which is based on conductivity, is expressed in parts per million (ppm). TDS affects everything that consumes, lives in or uses water from fish and plants to plumbing and laboratories. For people, the lower the TDS levels in the water you drink, the more efficiently your body cells are hydrated. The higher the TDS level in water, the greater the probability of harmful contaminants that can pose health risks or hinder the absorption of water. A TDS meter allows you to monitor the level of contaminants in your water.
Is the water from the Whole House Filtration System good to drink?
The Whole House System removes hardness, iron and other metals. In addition, the activated carbon also removes chlorine, other chemicals and contaminants. Because the water travels back through existing plumbing, the water is recommended for bathing, laundry and dishwashing. While it is perfectly okay to drink, there is no guarantee the water is 100% contaminant free, and it does not compete with the drinking quality of our Alkaline Plus System.
How long before I need to replenish the salt in my Whole House brine tank?
Replenishing the salt depends on the incoming water hardness and on your overall water consumption. For example, a family of 4 using incoming water with a hardness of 10 grains/gallon will need a 40-pound bag every 2 months.
Why does it seem like I can’t rinse all the soap off my skin and hair?
The PUR2o Whole House system will make your water soft and most importantly, chlorine free. As a result, you will need to use less soap to bathe and even wash your clothes. Your skin and hair will be soft, smooth and moist. While it will take some time to be accustomed to your new water, the PUR2o Whole House System can be calibrated to your personal preferences.

How often do I have to change my filters?
Changing your filters depends on the amount of water consumed and the quality of tap water coming in. On average, filters must be changed within a year.
On average, how long until the D-h2o System pays for itself?
Depends on the amount of distilled water you currently purchase and consume and the amount of time put into ordering and reordering and stocking supplies.
Usually, a 4-chair practice will amortize the D-h2o System in 4 – 6 months.
What type of maintenance is required on the system?
The D-h2o requires only that filters be changed when necessary.
What if I need more water for my practice?
The D-h2o System comes with a 4-gallon reserve tank. However, the system can be sized up to your requirements.
Is the water good only for the autoclave?
D-h2o water has multiple uses. Because it is pure water, it can be used in your ultra-sonic tray to avoid staining and corroding surgical tools. In addition, it can be used to refill chair side bottles to provide your patients with crystal clean water. Doing so will also avoid staining your chair side sink. If your practice has a fish tank, D-h2o water is perfect to supplement the tank!
Can I drink the water directly from the D-h2o faucet?
As 99.9% of all contaminants and minerals have been removed, D-h2o water is pure water. While you can drink it, we recommend adding a re-mineralizing filter for drinking purposes to enhance the health benefits, quality and taste of your water.
How often do I have to replace the D-I filter?
The D-I filter sometimes must be changed more often than filters in the Reverse Osmosis Assembly Box. The frequency depends on your water consumption.
Alkaline Plus System
Why is my PUR2o Alkaline Plus water sometimes cloudy and full of tiny bubbles?
When you grab a drink of water delivered by your PUR2o Alkaline Plus Water System, you’ll see a whole lot of tiny bubbles in your glass. These bubbles are negative hydroxyl ion oxygen bubbles. '
How often do I have to change my filters on the PUR2o Alkaline Plus drinking water system?
Changing your filters depends on the amount of water consumed and the quality of tap water coming in. On average, filters must be changed once a year or 1500 gallons, whichever comes first.
On average, how long until the PUR2o Alkaline Plus System pays for itself?
This depends on the amount of water you currently purchase and consume for drinking and cooking, not counting the savings when it comes to your overall health!
Why is this system good for the environment?
The PUR2o Alkaline Plus System does not use electricity and eliminates the need to purchase plastic bottles of water. Only 1 in 5 bottles are recycled, the rest end up in landfills. The oil used each year to make plastic water bottles in the U.S. could run more than 100-thousand cars!
Why is re-mineralizing a good idea?
Because drinking RO water is like drinking “dead water”. Reverse Osmosis technology removes everything from the water, including essential minerals. The PUR2o re-mineralizing filter adds calcium, magnesium and potassium to your drinking water, raising the pH, enhancing its health benefits, quality and taste.
What’s the difference between a standard re-mineralizing cartridge and the PH BOOST re-mineralizer?
Our body’s natural pH hovers around 7.0.
Alkaline and anti-oxidant water has been proven effective in preventing and treating cancer, diabetes, aging, auto immune and other diseases. Most diseases, except those caused by pathogenic bacteria, are linked to pollution of the blood.
Alkaline and anti-oxidant water is believed to activate those enzymes that remove harmful free radical oxygen in the body.
When comparing two healthy adults, studies show significant differences between the one drinking tap water and the one drinking alkaline and anti-oxidant water.
Should I use the PUR2o Alkaline Plus water for cooking?
Yes, always use PUR2o water to cook! Boiling city water to ensure safety is a myth! While it’s true some bacteria and viruses are killed (municipalities adding chlorine and ammonia already take care of bacteria), it is also true that boiling tap water results only in a higher concentration of those harmful chemicals and contaminants found in the water, making the water more dangerous upon consumption. Municipal water supplies are treated through chlorination. That chlorine – a known carcinogen – does not completely evaporate and it is just one of the many chemical contaminants concentrated when boiled.
Is fluoride a problem?
Does the PUR2o Alkaline Plus System remove fluoride?
